Polyps are usually non-cancerous growths that are found most commonly in the colon and stomach. It is the removal of polyps using an endoscope or colonoscope. In case of a small polyp can be removed using forceps endoscopically; however, in case the polyp is large it should remove, and the base is coagulated using a snare. Most of the time, small polyps might not have any symptoms; however, in the event of large polyps, they could have a few manifestations, such as:
- Bleeding from rectum
- Abdominal pain
- Irregular bowel movements
Most of the times, during a colonoscopy itself, polyps found are removed using the colonoscope.
